A convenient base for visiting Ljubljana, but one that felt expensive for a campsite with only some facilities open. It served its purpose, although it wasn’t one of the highlights of our European tour.

Our take
We chose Ljubljana Resort as a base for exploring Slovenia’s capital, and in terms of location it worked well. The city was easy to reach by bus or bike, making it a convenient place to stay for a couple of nights.
Unfortunately, we felt the campsite was expensive for what was on offer. As we visited out of season, some facilities were only partly open, and the site didn’t really live up to its “resort” name. While everything was perfectly adequate, it lacked the welcoming atmosphere and quality we’d found elsewhere on our travels.
Ljubljana itself didn’t quite capture our imagination in the way that places such as Lake Bled or Salzburg did, although that’s very much a matter of personal taste. For us, the campsite was simply a practical stop before moving on.

Would we return? Only as a convenient base for visiting Ljubljana, and we’d check current prices and available facilities before booking.
