Reflections

Sometimes the things that make us feel productive aren’t the things that actually move us forward. A reflection on proxy actions, baby steps and asking one simple question: what is the next real action?

A small reflection on speaking honestly, saying what matters and discovering that one clear sentence can prevent a head full of worry.

How many things do we take on simply because someone else hands them to us? I’m learning to pause before stepping in and ask one simple question: whose monkey is this? 🐒

A few thoughts about ordinary days, meaningful choices and making the most of the life I have.

What started as an encyclopaedia in my pocket has quietly become part of everyday life.

A reflection on letting go of the little things that once irritated us, and discovering that sometimes a simple “So what?” can make life feel a little lighter.

It’s often the smallest habits that have the biggest impact. One simple rule I’ve lived by for years has helped me stay organised, reduce clutter and free up more time for the things I enjoy.

Turning 70 made me look back at one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. This is the story of how an old patio became my summer house, a courtyard garden and my own little oasis.

Since returning from Europe, I’ve been looking at my to-do list differently. Instead of asking what I’d most enjoy doing today, I’ve started asking which choice will leave me feeling most satisfied by the end of it. It’s a small change in thinking, but it’s made a surprising difference.

We spend so much time thinking about what’s next that we can forget to notice what’s already here. Sometimes the richest moments are right in front of us.

I nearly didn’t press Publish on my first post. Eight months and more than a hundred posts later, I’ve learnt that courage doesn’t always mean making a huge life change. Sometimes it simply means starting before you feel ready.
