The Two-Minute Habit
It’s often the smallest habits that have the biggest impact. One simple rule I’ve lived by for years has helped me stay organised, reduce clutter and free up more time for the things I enjoy.
We’ve all heard the advice: If something takes less than two minutes, do it now.
It’s not a new idea, but it’s one of the few habits I’ve stuck with for years because it genuinely works.
Empty milk carton? Walk the few extra steps and put it in the recycling.
Coat over the chair? Hang it up while you’re passing the bedroom.
Finished your coffee? Put the mug straight in the dishwasher.
None of these jobs takes more than a minute, but leave enough of them undone and suddenly the house feels untidy and your to-do list grows.
For me, the biggest benefit isn’t having a tidy home. It’s having a tidy mind. I’m not constantly looking at little jobs thinking, “I’ll do that later.”
Of course, I’m not perfect. I still leave the odd thing behind now and again. But this simple habit has made life feel calmer and more organised.
It’s amazing how often the smallest habits make the biggest difference.
