Matilda's Stopovers - Camping Los Batanes, Lagunas de Ruidera

Six nights at Camping Los Batanes in Castilla-La Mancha. Spacious, shaded pitches, good facilities and a wonderful location for exploring the Lagunas de Ruidera. A campsite we'd happily return to.

Location and Surrounding Area

Camping Los Batanes is situated in the Lagunas de Ruidera Natural Park, an area of beautiful lagoons, woodland and open countryside.

There are numerous opportunities for walking and cycling, with routes accessible from the campsite. Some tracks are rougher than they appear on maps, so it's worth checking the terrain before setting out on bikes.

There are bars and restaurants around the lagoons, although opening hours are seasonal. Despite visiting in October, we still found some lovely places for refreshments and something to eat.

Our Thoughts

What an excellent campsite!

During our six-night stay, we experienced Los Batanes at both extremes — packed to the rafters over the holiday weekend and then almost deserted once the crowds had gone home.

We found the campsite comfortable and well maintained, with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay.

The location was a real bonus. We could leave Matilda parked and spend our days exploring the surrounding countryside, with plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling and wildlife watching.

We were also incredibly fortunate with the weather, enjoying first-class October sunshine throughout our stay.

Would We Stay Again?

Yes, without hesitation!

Los Batanes is somewhere we would happily return to. An excellent campsite in a beautiful location, ideal for anyone who enjoys exploring the outdoors.
