Exploring Belmonte
I thoroughly enjoyed wandering around Belmonte. It’s a lovely historic town with some beautiful old buildings and interesting streets to explore.
We arrived during a local celebration, and the town was buzzing with people and music. There was a wonderful atmosphere and a good choice of bars, so naturally we stopped for a few drinks!
I also walked up to the impressive Belmonte Castle. We didn’t go inside, but it was well worth seeing from the outside.
Our Verdict
A good free overnight stop that makes an ideal break in a journey, with the added bonus of an attractive historic town to explore.
Would we return? If we were passing through and needed an overnight stop, yes. We enjoyed our visit, but wouldn’t make a special journey back.
