Lady Margaret’s Park, Chirk — a brilliant location with an easy walk into town, Chirk Castle just up the road, and the Llangollen Canal right on the doorstep. Spacious pitches, warm facilities, and plenty to explore in every season. 🌿
The circular walk around Chirk Castle is well worth doing — gentle paths through woodland and parkland, with the bonus of a National Trust café and outdoor kiosk for a well-timed coffee stop. 🌿
It’s an easy walk into Chirk, with a few pubs and cafés that make a nice stop before or after exploring the area.
The canal walks here are a real highlight. I really enjoyed heading along the towpath towards Chirk Bank, passing the pub and rows of little canal cottages — there’s a lovely sense of everyday life along this stretch, with plenty to notice as you go. Walking the other way follows the Llangollen Canal towards Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a route I’ve not done yet but very much one for next time. It’s one of those places where you can choose your direction and be rewarded either way.
