Our take
This was one of those unexpected finds that turned out to be a real highlight.
The overnight parking is in a sloping car park behind the pub, but with a few wedges under the wheels we were perfectly comfortable. There are no facilities, but for a free stopover that wasn't a problem for us.
The real attraction is the pub itself. We enjoyed a great meal, including the enormous ribs that are one of the house specialities. After a day on the road it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a taste of Bavaria.
The village was peaceful and welcoming, with useful vending machines selling everyday essentials. The following morning we headed out on the bikes and discovered a surprisingly beautiful area. Lakes seemed to appear around every corner and there were plenty of quiet roads and cycle routes to explore.
With a cold weather front moving in, we eventually continued south towards the Alps, but not before enjoying several hours of excellent cycling.
A simple stopover, but one we remember very fondly.
