Simple steps to make your Notes easier to use — especially if you're not confident with tech. 😊

I took a screenshot of my Notes earlier and realised I’ve somehow gathered 352 iCloud notes, 70 Notes and a few Quick Notes. Crikey… it seems a lot! 😄

But honestly, most people are the same. Notes grows and grows until one day you suddenly think… “Where on earth has all this come from?!”

So here’s Part Two of this little series — simple, clear steps to help you get organised without feeling overwhelmed. ✨

1️⃣ How to save a note

When you’re finished typing, just tap Done in the top right corner. Notes does autosave, but tapping Done takes you safely back out of the note. 👍

2️⃣ How to make a folder (super easy!)

If you want to tidy up your Notes, folders are your friend. Here’s the simplest way to make one — perfect for technophobes: 💛

  1. Open the Notes app.
  2. Look at the bottom left of your screen — you’ll see a little folder icon with a + sign.
  3. Tap it.
  4. You’ll see a screen saying “New Folder”.
  5. Tap the small x on the right-hand side to clear the name.
  6. Type your own folder name (e.g. Recipes, Travel, Cycling, Home).
  7. At the bottom you’ll see: Cancel • New Folder • Done.
  8. Tap Done.
  9. You’ll return to your list — and your new folder will be sitting there ready to use. ✔️

Nice and simple. No fuss.

3️⃣ Scanning documents (this was new to me!)

I’ve always used Genius Scan for scanning papers, but Notes has a built-in scanner — and it works brilliantly. 📄✨

To scan something:

  1. Open a new note.
  2. Tap then paperclip
  3. Select Scan Documents.
  4. Hold your phone over the page — it finds the edges automatically.
  5. Tap Save. ✔️

Perfect for receipts, letters, club membership forms, guarantees and anything you want to store properly. 📁

If you’d like a Part Three next week, I’ll show you how to move notes into folders without losing anything. 😊

Even a couple of scans a week can help you gently let go of old papers and keep things calmer at home. 🌿
