Photo Journal | 8–14 February 2026 - Walking, Soggy Cycling & a Short Solo Van Outing
It’s been one of those weeks where the forecast was basically just different types of rain. Still, I’ve surprised myself — I’ve kept moving, got some fresh air, and even squeezed in a very short outing in Matilda when the timing was right.
A fab walk from the Harbour to the Nova, with plenty to look at on the beach — including a ray washed up near the tide line. The rain got me eventually, but it was a good excuse for a coffee and a lift home.

I’d been itching to get out on the bike, but the forecast looked a bit grim. In the end I went anyway (as you do). Dry on the way out… and then the return leg was properly wet and miserable. Never mind — I got my fresh air and my legs moving, and I’m pleased to report I made it home without shrinking.

Short outing in Matilda to the bike shop, a good reminder that I can drive and manoeuvre her.

Frost first thing, so the walk won. 🥾
Planned: 4.83 miles. Actual: 6.33. 😅 Gwyrch Castle was the original route, but the paths are now closed — so we improvised.
Planty of variety including a bit of the North Wales Path, two ridiculously muddy fields… and a reminder that a ford is through the water, not over it. U-turn required. 😅

A rare night out for us at the Talacre Lighthouse pub. 🎶
Richard’s friend Scot was on as Buddy Holly — and to be fair, he was really good. We even won first prize in the raffle! Not sure tribute nights are quite my cup of tea… but it was a fun change. Any takers for the disc???
