Park Lijak — Vipava Valley, Slovenia 🇸🇮
A warm welcome and a beautiful setting in Slovenia’s Vipava Valley, but ongoing building work, unfinished facilities and a high out-of-season price made Park Lijak poor value during our stay.

Our take
Park Lijak was one of the few campsites on our European tour that left us feeling disappointed.
We had originally planned to stay for several days while exploring the Vipava Valley, but after two nights we decided to move on.
The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly, and the surrounding area has plenty to offer. Unfortunately, when we visited, the campsite was in the middle of a major redevelopment, with a new hotel being built at the front of the site. The washrooms had been moved into the new building and felt temporary and rather rough and ready.
Overall, the campsite felt a little tired and in need of a good refresh.
One lesson I learned was always to confirm the price at check-in. Park Lijak was an ACSI campsite, but I didn’t have my card to hand when we arrived and didn’t ask what the nightly rate would be. We were charged the full published tariff of €47.60 per night, with laundry costing an additional €8 per wash.
Although those charges matched the campsite’s published price list, we didn’t feel they reflected the condition of the site during our visit. Considering the ongoing building work and the standard of the facilities, it represented poor value for money.
The campsite also sits on a busy main road, so every cycle ride began by joining traffic before reaching the quieter country lanes. Once away from the road the cycling was enjoyable, but it wasn’t the peaceful setting we had hoped for.
Park Lijak may well be a much better campsite once the redevelopment is complete, and we’d be interested to see it again in the future. Based on our visit in May 2026, however, it wasn’t somewhere we wanted to extend our stay.

Park Lijak has plenty of potential and the staff gave us a warm welcome, but during our visit the campsite was still very much a work in progress. Once the redevelopment is finished, it may offer a completely different experience.
