An attractive location for exploring Cochem and the Moselle Valley. While the town impressed us, the campsite itself didn’t quite match some of the memorable stops elsewhere on our trip. 🚐🍇🍷

Our take
This was one of the few sites on our trip that didn’t quite live up to our expectations.
Check-in felt unnecessarily complicated, with online registration required and the website only available in German. The campsite itself felt rather crowded, with tightly packed rows of motorhomes and very little shade.
Although there were views of the Moselle, the site also sits beside a busy road and railway line, so it lacked the peaceful atmosphere we found at many of our other stops.
We had been looking forward to cycling in the Moselle Valley, but much of the route followed the main road, which wasn’t as enjoyable as some of the cycling we experienced elsewhere in Europe.
Cochem itself is an attractive town and many visitors clearly love the area. We simply found that, after so many memorable stops throughout our 89-day journey, this one didn’t stand out in the same way.
There was nothing particularly wrong with the site, but it lacked the atmosphere and setting of many of the places we stayed elsewhere on the trip. It wasn’t a bad stop, just not one we’d be rushing back to.
