A spacious campsite just 6km from Plitvice Lakes National Park, with excellent facilities and the freedom to choose your own pitch. Here’s what we thought of Camp Korana and whether we’d stay again.

Facilities
The facilities were excellent and very well maintained. The showers in particular were some of the best we encountered on our trip.
There was also a restaurant and shop on site, although the shop wasn’t open during our stay.
The Site
Camp Korana is a large, open campsite set amongst trees and countryside. There are no allocated pitches, so we were able to drive around and choose our own spot.
We found a lovely sunny position for Matilda with plenty of room around us. Visiting in April meant the campsite was very quiet, which suited us perfectly.
Restaurant
We ate at the restaurant on site but were a little disappointed. It lacked atmosphere and had rather a canteen feel.
To be fair, we were there out of season and very few people were eating, which probably made quite a difference.
Visiting Plitvice Lakes
The campsite is around 6 km from Plitvice Lakes National Park. We drove to the lakes and found it straightforward.
One of the real benefits of staying at Camp Korana was the arrangement with the National Park. Our entrance ticket could be extended, allowing us to return to the lakes the following day without paying for another full-price ticket.
This was particularly useful at Plitvice, where there is so much to explore.
Nearby
We visited Rastoke on our way to the campsite. Its waterfalls, rivers and old watermills make it well worth a stop if you’re travelling through the area.
Our Verdict
A comfortable, well-maintained campsite and a very good choice for visiting Plitvice Lakes.
We would happily stay again.
