Audiobooks have become part of my bedtime routine, usually with a 30-minute timer. Here are some of the books I’ve listened to, along with a few thoughts on what worked for me — and what didn’t.

The Man Who Cycled the World — Mark Beaumont 7/10
An incredible cycling challenge and one I enjoyed listening to.

One Man and His Bike — Mike Carter 7/10
An enjoyable cycling journey around Britain, combining travel, people and life on the road.

Notes on a Nervous Planet — Matt Haig 7/10
An interesting look at modern life and how it can affect the way we think and feel.

The Way Home — Mark Boyle 8/10
I really enjoyed this account of stepping away from technology and modern conveniences to live a much simpler life.

Happy Sexy Millionaire — Steven Bartlett 8/10
Thought-provoking and much more about happiness, success and what really matters than the title might suggest.

Four Thousand Weeks — Oliver Burkeman 8/10
A book that made me think about how limited our time really is and the importance of making the most of it.

This Year Will Be Different — Dominique Bertolucci
An easy, positive listen about making changes and developing better habits. I enjoyed it at the time, although it’s not one that particularly stuck in my memory.

One Habit a Day — Ashdin Doctor
An easy, calming listen that worked particularly well at bedtime.

Embrace Discomfort — Michael Easter
This one made me think about pushing myself a little further, changing some of my habits and becoming more comfortable with being uncomfortable.

The Chain — Bradley Wiggins 4/10
There were parts I found interesting, but overall it felt quite repetitive and I struggled with the monotone narration. Not one of my favourite listens.
